Sustainability and High Performance Buildings
Fillmore Construction integrates sustainability into every phase of project delivery—from early planning and pre‑construction through construction, commissioning, and handover. Our approach focuses on practical, buildable, and cost‑effective solutions that improve long‑term building performance while supporting owner budgets, operational reliability, and regulatory requirements.
We work collaboratively with owners, consultants, and authorities to translate sustainability goals into real‑world construction outcomes.

Featured LEED Projects
Leduc Agrivalue Business Incubator Expansion
A CFIA-grade, GMP food processing facility designed with enhanced envelope assemblies and rigorous coordination to meet performance targets.
Louis Bull Waste Transfer Station - Maskwacis, AB
One of our earliest solar installations, completed in 2016, featuring a ground-mounted array with a total supply-and-install value of approximately $50,000.
Walmart Country Hills - Calgary, AB
A large-scale rooftop photovoltaic installation. The system is designed to generate approximately 568,000 kWh in its first year of operation.
Beaumont K-12 School
Enoch First Nation K-12 School
Goodleaf Vertical Farm - Calgary, AB
An exceptionally efficient facility featuring minimal energy loss and near-zero natural gas consumption. The project integrated a highly optimized envelope with a mechanical system that captures heat and dehumidification from growing rooms to heat the building. Envelope design minimized penetrations and maximized effective R-values to support continuous operations

MD of Bighorn No.8 Operations Facility - Net Zero
The MD of Bighorn Operations Facility is a 13,000 sq. ft. net zero energy office and maintenance complex constructed on a greenfield site. The project incorporates advanced energy systems, significant civil infrastructure, and a high-performance building envelope.
Key Features
-
Integrated geothermal heating and cooling system
-
Solar photovoltaic arrays producing approximately 148–150 MWh annually
-
Water-source heat pumps supplemented by an electric boiler
-
On-site power generation offsetting annual electrical consumption
-
New domestic well, fire suppression storage, and septic systems
The project required careful coordination of structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil scopes to meet energy modeling requirements and funding criteria.
Results
-
Delivered on time and on budget
-
Met the performance requirements for FCM Green Municipal Fund financing and grant support
-
Achieved rigorous envelope airtightness and system commissioning standards
The project stands as a milestone example of Fillmore’s capability to deliver technically complex, high-performance buildings.
